About Us

Salty Underground LLC began in 2002 out of a passion for the saltwater aquarium hobby and has grown into the world's largest suplier of berghia nudibranchs. We like many people in the hobby, developed a problem with Aiptasia anemones in our first aquarium. At that time Berghia cost as much as $35 each. They were also commonly sold at 1/8" in size and were offered for sale by just one or two Berghia breeders in the United States on a limited basis. Clearly there was a need in the saltwater hobby. So we gave Berghia breeding a try, and we were successful on our first attempt. From this effort Salty Underground was born.

Salty Underground continued to grow from this start with Berghia Nudibranchs. In our continued growth we added captive bred clownfish raised locally in St. louis Mo, corals including many aquacultured varieties from around the country, saltwater invertebrates, and saltwater / freshwater aquarium maintenance services in the St. Louis, Missouri, area.

A fun and gratifying side benefit to our business has been our educational activities visiting schools and clubs to promote awareness and appreciation for the oceans and all of the life in them. In particular, young children respond with enthusiasm when they can see and touch creatures from the sea.

In the future Salty Underground will work to maintain unparalleled service and add even more aquacultured livestock in an effort to build upon our environmentally responsible approach to the saltwater hobby. If you have any comments, questions or suggestions please let us know.
