Cyano Eating Pacific Cerith Snail - Cerithium spp.
Cerith snails specialize in general algae grazing on the tank walls and the rockwork. They may eat cyanobacteria as pictured. They are easy to keep and do not bother other tank inhabitants.
Cerithium spp. range from North Carolina to Florida, Texas, and the West Indies. In nature, they are commonly found on algae, sea grasses, and rocks in shallow water and near the low tide line. They have a high, conical shell, and can grow up to 1.5" long and 0.5" wide depending on species and maturity. We carry the Pacific ceriths at this time which differ from the Atlantic in the look of the shell only.
