Peppermint shrimp (Lysmata sp.)

The Peppermint Shrimp are one of the most popular shrimp in the saltwater hobby. They are scavengers eating detritus, uneaten fish food, and decomposing organic material. Hobbyist say they may even eat aiptasia. Just beware that if you have Berghia Nudibranchs the shrimp will eat them. Some even say they may turn on soft coral and polyps. The Peppermint are nocturnal and will hand out under rocks until lights are out to scavenge.
