Banded Long Spine Urchin

The Banded Long Spine Urchin is a peaceful urchin. They can grow up to 5 inches. During the day they like to hang out in cracks and shaded areas. At night they like to forage. Juveniles like to eat on algae. The adults like to eat small inverts. They are very sensitive to copper based medications. If the Banded Urchin is doing poorly they will start to lose their spines. Like other urchins they are venomous. If stung it will be close to what a bee sting feels like.
