Janss' Pipefish

The Jans They usually do not come in contact with the substrate. These pipefish are an orange and black bicolor body with an alluring spot tail. Due to their eating habits they are not for a beginner aquarist. They require being fed live foods such as copepods and live baby brine. You may be able to train them to eat very small frozen mysis and nutramar ova. These Pipefish can reach up to 7 inches and will require an aquarium of at least 20 gallons. Due to their peaceful easy-going nature, they should be housed with other docile fish like firefish, dragonettes, seahorses and small gobies. They are not reef safe as they can be easily hurt by stinging corals, inverts, large shrimp, and anemones.
