One Down

Hi, They arrived here fine. One aptasia disappeared almost immediately. Haven't seen the Berghia for a while, I am assuming they are busy with hidden aptasia or reproducing. Thanks! Alexandra

Aquacultured Burning Banana Stylocoeniella Coral - t-4-22-e

83

This Stylocoeniella sp., is yellow-green with very bushy bright red polyps. It closley resembles a montipiora danae and is probably often confused for that species. This is 1 inch.

Stylocoeniella sp.is a widespread but rare coral with a preference for shallow waters and rocky overhangs. Reaching only 10cm in diameter, colonies of this small species grow as a thin crust over rocky substrate. They possess many small corallites which protrude from the colonies skeletal base. Corallites house fleshy polyps, standing out from the base color of their colony.
