Undulated Triggerfish (Balistapus undulatus)

The Undulated Triggerfish is an aggressive but hardy fish and sometimes can even be shy. They get up to 12 inches, a very large size when fully grown. This fish requires an aquarium of at least 180 gallons with plenty of rock to hide in. Be warned they do rearrange the rockwork sometime chewing on them to help file down their teeth. They are known to make grunting sounds when they feel threatened and to keep predators away. The Triggerfish is not reef safe as they will eat inverts, shrimps, clams, and small fish. Their diet consists of mysis, brines, and other meaty foods. They must also have food such as clams with hard shells to keep their teeth filed down.
