Burrfish can reach up to 10 inches and will need to be in an aquarium of at least 150 gallons with plenty of swimming room as well as rock to hide and forage from. They may become aggressive towards other fish for territory. They should be housed with other larger fish. They are not reef safe as they may eat smaller fish and crustaceans they find around the aquarium. Their diet consists of meaty foods as well as clams on half shells to help file down her teeth. Interestingly they have the ability to draw water into their bodies making the "spines" stand out even more.  Unlike the true puffer, the Spiny Box Burrfish's spines are always erect.
