The Coral Catfish (Plotosus lineatus) can be found within the Indo-Pacific. They have a venomous barbs located within their dorsal and pectoral fins; they are capable of inflicting an excruciating sting that may require medical attention. Juveniles are deep black with yellow or white lines. As juveniles, they form very large schools, sifting through sand for nutrients. If kept without a school during juvenile stage, they may hide or refuse to eat. As they age, they prefer more solitude without a school. They can reach a maximum size of 12 inches. Being a scaleless fish, they are very sensitive to copper-based treatments.
