Our bright meteor shower Cyphastrea coral is over 1.25 inches and on a coral frag plug. The coral has a nice color for the money and grows fairly quickly.
Cyphastrea sp. are usually massive or hemispherical. They come in striking colors, with the polyps usually of contrasting colors like pink eyes on a blue background or green eyes on an orange background. These are in the Faviidae family of corals, which are generally considered to be LPS (large polyped stony) corals, but many hobbyists classify Cyphastrea spp. as SPS (small polyped stoney) corals due to the size of the polyps.
Meteor shower corals prefer to be located near the bottom of the aquarium in low to moderate lighting. This is one of the easier stony corals to keep.
Please see this article for more information about the Faviidae family of corals.
